The curved wand connects into your ducted vacuum hose and becomes the handle you use to hold as you vacuum. There is an air vent on the curved wands that can be used to adjust the suction power through your floor tool.
 
Fitting this wand to the hose is slightly different being a 3 peice handle. First slide the ring over the hose clips facing out. Second screw the white plastic threaded section onto the hose, note that it is a reverse thread.
Then insert the white plastic end into the base of the wand using the ring with 2 spring clips to hold it in place. Sometimes a small flat screwdriver can assist with the last bit.
